Allied Brothers Talent Solution was created to close that gap by building stronger connections between candidates and employers, creating clear career pathways, and supporting long-term success for both individuals and organizations.
A Moment That Changed Everything
In my final year of military service, I was stationed at the US Embassy in Pakistan and spending more time working with civilians. Someone asked what I’d do after retirement. I didn’t have a plan—just, “find work.” I applied for a contract role, interviewed with the Director and an Executive Officer (XO), and quickly noticed something odd: I’d answer the Director’s questions, she’d look to the XO, and he’d repeat my answer using different words. Then she’d say, “Ah, okay.”
After I was hired, I asked the XO why he had to restate my interview answers. His reply stuck with me:
“You were speaking military. She needed civilian.”
He was prior military and simply translated my answers.
I’ve always prided myself on being a clear professional communicator, but that day I learned a hard truth: the military and civilian worlds use the same English differently. Without that XO in the room, I might have been the best candidate she never understood.
That experience was my wake-up call. Over the next eight years working across the civilian sector, I met countless veterans—and career changers—who were qualified, capable, and motivated, yet lost in translation between two worlds.
Allied Brothers Talent Solution was born to fix that.

From Navy to Navigating What’s Next
After more than two decades in the Navy, I believed my résumé and experience spoke for themselves. I had led teams, managed multimillion dollar operations, and mentored sailors through the toughest transitions of their lives.
But when I stepped into the civilian job market, I quickly discovered that employers didn’t see the leader, strategist, or mentor they saw acronyms and job titles that didn’t translate. Despite checking every box on paper, I was told I was “overqualified,” “not the right fit,” or heard nothing back at all.
It wasn’t until I reframed my own story, showing how leading sailors translated into leading teams, how Navy logistics translated into business operations, how military resilience translated into corporate adaptability that opportunities finally opened up.
That struggle became my mission. I thought: If I had to work this hard to be understood after all my experience, how many others are still being overlooked?
That’s why John and I founded Allied Brothers Talent Solution: to make sure no veteran, military spouse, or career changer is left behind in translation.
